Data Governance Committees
The following Governance committees impact the data collected from the Banner student information system and the OneUSGConnect/PeopleSoft system for USG reporting as well as dashboards that might be added for the University System office for tracking and monitoring. Submitted requests to each of these governance bodies are weighed to assist in determining the necessity, feasibility, and advisability of the changes.
NOTE: Implementing revisions or additions to collections or dashboards may take up to a year or more, as changes may be required at institutions and within the data collection process.
Academic Data Governance
The Academic Data Governance Committee (ADGC) receives requests from Sponsors or other users to make changes in the data collections that come from the Banner student information system (Academic, Financial Aid and Facilities). These requests can be for New Data Elements or for a Change to an Existing Data Element.
Detailed information provided will assist in determining the necessity, feasibility, and advisability of the new data element. All requests will be reviewed by the USG’s ADGC.
Human Resources Data Governance
The Human Resources Data Mart (HRDM) data is most commonly used to report human resource data to IPEDS and create Employee reports. Changes related to the Human Resources Data Mart (HRDM) and reporting of data from that mart may be submitted to this Governance committee.
NOTE: Change requests to OneUSG/PeopleSoft system that have no impact on HRDM or reporting, follow a different process. For those requests, follow the process for Model Change requests. However, if the requested change to OneUSG/PeopleSoft has downstream impacts on HRDM and/or reporting please also complete and submit a request to the Human Resources Data Governance committee as well.
Changes reviewed by the HRDGC may include changes in mappings of OneUSG values to HRDM values, changes in the mapping of SOC to BCAT crosswalk, changes in definitions used for IPEDS or Digest reporting, requesting a data element that is already in OneUSG to be loaded into HRDM and requesting a data element that is not currently in OneUSG to be added and loaded into HRDM.
Dashboard Governance
In Fall 2024, a new Dashboard Governance Committee (DGC) has been introduced to review requests to add new dashboards for University System Office (USO) staff in support of the Chancellor’s dashboarding initiatives. These requests should be submitted via an online form by USO staff for review by the DGC.
