Data Governance
Governance in higher education plays a role in shaping strategic direction, policy decisions and resource management. Governance can also define roles and responsibilities, data quality standards and develop standards for data management.
Strategic Direction
The vision, mission and values of the University System of Georgia has been set as a part of the Strategic Plan 2029 setting long term goals for the System and its institutions. Data dashboards play a large part in documenting progress towards these goals and metrics.
Stakeholder Engagement
Data governance involves engaging with various stakeholders and sponsors as well as institutional representatives. This engagement ensures that perspectives from each institution, sector and business area are considered in decision-making processes and that the schools remain responsive to the needs of stakeholders.
Policy and Standards Development
Data Governance involves defining policies and standards to ensure data is managed effectively and securely. This includes defining data access, quality, security, and compliance.
Accountability and Oversight
Accountability structures and oversight mechanisms are established to ensure policies are followed and goals are met.
