Emergency Web Service

ITS offers a hosted Emergency Web Service should a University System of Georgia (USG) institution be impacted by an emergency or unplanned event resulting in loss of access to a USG institution primary web site or presence. This service ensures that an impacted institution can continue to provide information via their domain (i.e. www.usginstitution.edu) even though their campus infrastructure is unavailable.

INGRESS Registration Sharing System

ITS developed INGRESS (Intra-Georgia Registration Sharing System) to integrate the Banner student information system with the learning management system to process cross-institutional registrations, support centralized seat management and automate the creation of online courses.

  • Institutions can share course seats, eliminating the cancellation of low enrollment courses.

GeorgiaFIRST Marketplace

eProcurement (ePro) is a module in PeopleSoft Financials with the primary function of creating electronic requisitions and routing them for approval. The GeorgiaFIRST Marketplace, an online shopping site accessed from PeopleSoft Financials, takes the use of ePro to another level. Through this online shopping site, users can shop for items from a variety of state-approved suppliers. Users select items by placing them in a shopping cart, then return the shopping cart into PeopleSoft Financials to create an ePro requisition.

GeorgiaFIRST PeopleSoft Financials

The GeorgiaFIRST PeopleSoft Financials application model is a fully integrated, Oracle-based technology suite of software applications managing the financial data that meet BOR and USG institutional needs for information used in decision-making. The single application model and a consolidated database containing the data for all institutions are centrally hosted at ITS, and ITS distributes all software upgrades and releases.

USO Telephone System

ITS provides USO staff with a wide range of telephone services, based on the Avaya phone system.

This system provides intra-campus calling, external local calling and long distance access. Full line features (conferencing, call forward, etc.) and voicemail are included.

GA DOE K-12 Network

A statewide, high-speed educational network for the state’s K-12 community, created through a strategic partnership between the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia and the Georgia Department of Education.

Features and Benefits:

  • Delivers the equivalent of 100Mb/s per constituent school to each school district.
  • Leverages PeachNet’s existing high-speed fiber infrastructure to provide a dedicated optical backbone to K-12 institutions.

PeachNet Cloud Backup

PeachNet’s Backup service is similar to a traditional backup system, but the target/destination is our offsite data center. You install a backup agent on each host that you wish to back up, and backups are streamed to our backup systems at Information Technology Services (ITS) in Athens. The service leverages technical support through a dedicated team of ITS system administrators.

Features and Benefits:

  • Based on EMC’s Avamar system, which offers source-based de-duplication that significantly reduces wall clock time and traffic over the LAN.
  • Log in to the backup management system and control various aspects of your backups, with the ability to perform self-service restores.
  • Avoid infrastructure capital expenditures.
  • Discounts available for 10T or more of backed-up data.

PeachNet is the statewide communications network supporting all Information Technology Services efforts. It is the mission-critical foundation that connects and provides internet service to all USG institutions as well as K-12 schools and is the basis for the USG’s Integrated Learning Environment.

ServiceNow is a web-based service management platform that ITS uses to ensure excellent customer service. Whenever an ITS customer requests assistance, ServiceNow works behind the scenes to ensure their request is received, tracked, routed to the right people, and resolved as quickly as possible.

The University System of Georgia (USG) Technology Store (formerly SRS) uses the combined buying power of USG institutions to negotiate and provision cost-effective software and services for the USG.

USO SSO

The USO Single Sign-On service provides USO staff with convenient, secure access to multiple USO applications with a single username and password and multi-factor authentication. The USO Single Sign-On service is a standards-based Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) identity provider (IdP).

USG Identity Proxy

ITS provides a Single Sign-On (SSO) Identity Proxy that allows customers to use their own USG institutional credentials to authenticate to centrally provided USG services and applications. This arrangement is currently used by OneUSG Connect. The USO Identity Proxy is a standards-based Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) identity provider (IdP).

Features and Benefits:

  • Convenience. Customers can use a single set of credentials they are already familiar with.
  • Security. Maintain security and access control as per your USG Institution's unique guidelines.
  • Simplicity of implementation. Centrally-provided services and applications can take advantage of USG-wide SSO simply by being connected to the USG Identity Proxy.
