Georgia Southwestern State University – a four-year institution – cultivates excellence in learning and teaching that encourages intellectual, personal, and social growth for students, faculty, staff, and the community. Georgia Southwestern State University is a comprehensive state university within the University System of Georgia that offers a full range of bachelor degree programs, along with selected master’s and specialist degree programs.

Georgia Southwestern is committed to serving the needs of its developing region with educational programs for professional and technical graduates; post-graduate professional training; research and business services; and cultural enrichment. Through its national and international affiliations, the University links Southwest Georgia with the global economy and actively fosters a greater understanding of international business and culture.

  • More than 3,000 residential, commuter and online students are enrolled and the student body averages 24 years of age. Students come primarily from Georgia, but some 25 states and 39 nations also are represented among enrollees.

  • The University offers 40 bachelor’s degree programs in arts and sciences, business administration, computing and mathematics, education and nursing; master’s degree programs in English, education, business administration, computer science, nursing (online) plus a specialist program in education and pre-professional programs in law, medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine and various allied health-care professions. Southwestern also offers the only Professional Golf Management Program in Georgia.

  • Georgia Southwestern and the Georgia Institute of Technology offer a dual-degree program in engineering leading to a bachelor’s degree in science or mathematics from Georgia Southwestern and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Georgia Tech. The University also offers cooperative programs with South Georgia Technical College and several two-year institutions within the University System, culminating in a baccalaureate degree from Georgia Southwestern.

  • Georgia Southwestern had an economic impact of more than $69 million during FY 2010.
