Georgia Southern University’s Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) was recently recognized by Quality Matters (QM) for their Teaching Online Courses workshop.

QM is a nationally recognized program that uses research-based standards for online course design. Faculty design courses using the QM standards, and then submit the course for review by expert peers who have been trained in the QM Rubric. The Teaching Online Courses workshop itself went through the process of being certified by QM, thereby ensuring that the course was not only designed according to best-practices, but also that it set an example for those faculty who were taking the course so they could experience a well-designed course from a student’s point of view.

QM highlighted the course on their website as an institution that is “leading by example.”

This seven-week long online course is part of a larger, semester-long Teaching Online Courses Program that is facilitated by the CTE’s instructional design staff. The program was designed to ensure that Georgia Southern faculty are ready to teach successful online courses.
