Teaching and Learning Centers Program Spotlight
GA-CTL RAC at Gordon State College
The Center for Teaching and Learning Regents Advisory Committee (GA-CTL) was welcomed by Gordon State College president Kirk Nooks last week at their biannual business meeting in Barnesville, Georgia. The meeting was hosted by Dr. Anna Higgins-Harrell, director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at GSC.
In addition to the business meeting, the RAC participated in a workshop entitled, “Communication Styles: Identifying Your Own and Effectively Reaching Others,” facilitated by Wendi Jenkins, the Leadership and Institutional Development Manager for the USG.
Following that workshop, the RAC was honored to spend time with facilitators and students involved in the African American Male Initiative at GSC. The goal of this program is to increase retention and graduation rates of African American male students through an integrated program that incorporates academic and social supports for the students.
