Board of Regents Chairman Shailendra, Chancellor Wrigley offer statements on passing of former Chancellor Hank Huckaby

Atlanta — April 14, 2021

From Board of Regents Chairman Sachin Shailendra:

“Chancellor Huckaby served Georgia for many years with distinction. His tenure as chancellor saw unprecedented advancement in student success and organizational efficiencies. He worked tirelessly on behalf of the USG’s students, staff and faculty. Hank truly left the USG better than he found it.”

From USG Chancellor Steve Wrigley:

“I am saddened to learn of the passing of Chancellor Huckaby.

Hank and I met more than 30 years ago and have been friends and colleagues ever since. Hank was devoted to this state and served it in many capacities, including as state budget director, a senior leader at the University of Georgia, and as Chancellor. He always kept the people of this state first in his work. His last role as chancellor was exemplary both in our state and nationally, putting Georgia on a path to be a top public higher education system in the nation. I learned a great deal from him through the years, and I shall miss him greatly. Please keep Amy and her family in your thoughts and prayers.”
