The Faculty/Department Awards program was established in 1996 by the Board of Regents to recognize the excellence of Georgia’s public college and university faculties. Expanded in FY 2000, the program solicits nominations from 35 University of System of Georgia institutions for 12 faculty/department awards annually.

Under the program, the Office of Academics and Fiscal Affairs uses state-appropriated funds, when available, to make a monetary award to each of the outstanding faculty members and outstanding departments.

The Regents’ Teaching Excellence Award and the Regents’ Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award is the highest honor for faculty at Georgia’s public colleges and universities. The Office of Academics and Fiscal Affairs is proud to administer this esteemed program.

Created in 1996, the Regents’ Awards program recognizes the finest among the University System of Georgia’s full-time instructional faculty for their demonstrated educational excellence in teaching, and in the scholarship of teaching and learning. Award recipients in the past have had a record of superlative teaching, and a strong commitment to impacting student learning and to ultimately fostering the academic success of students.
