Academic Planning works to create a system-wide emphasis on academic excellence, to integrate planning at the discipline level in support of USG goals, to manage opportunities for faculty to connect in discipline specific committees and to leverage institutional expertise system–wide.

Academic Programs enhances educational opportunities at the associate, baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral levels by developing processes that are responsive to the economic, intellectual, and cultural needs of the state and the regions served by the 35 public institutions of the University System.

Educational Access and Success supports and leverages campus development and implementation of a range of educator preparation programs, faculty involvement with school improvement, high school to college transition initiatives, and research on effective practices to meet state needs.

Faculty Affairs provides overall coordination of Board policies and procedures related to faculty and for other faculty-related personnel matters.

Information Technology Services (ITS) provides leadership to the University System of Georgia for technologies that support instruction, research, and service in higher education.

Research & Policy Analysis (RPA) analyzes higher education and related state and national policy issues and their impact on the University System of Georgia. The research conducted by Research and Policy Analysis focuses on students, curriculum, and faculty.

Student Affairs advises on all matters affecting student life on the campuses of the 35 colleges and universities comprising the University System of Georgia.

Championing Academic Quality in the University System of Georgia
Academic Affairs, under the leadership of the Executive Vice Chancellor & Chief Academic Officer, promotes and ensures academic quality in the University of System of Georgia. The various departments within Academic Affairs work closely with thirty-one institutional members to ensure that the citizens of Georgia can pursue further studies from a rich variety of high quality academic programs – undergraduate, graduate, and professional – to meet their interests and lifelong career needs. Through the creation of policies and collaborative work, Academic Affairs advises and provides leadership on all academic-related areas to the members of the System; identifies and reviews solutions for the USG strategic plan in the departments of Academic Planning, Academic Programs, Data Administration, Educational Access and Success, Faculty Affairs, Information Technology Services, Research & Policy Analysis, Student Achievement and Student Affairs. Academic Affairs supports several special initiatives designed to enhance the quality of education and research in Georgia.
