Book Characteristics
AUDIENCE: Can be aimed at a popular or scholarly audience. Regarding the Challenger, several books were published to meet public interest in the personal lives of the Challenger astronauts, but since they did not present any new research about the explosion they are considered popular books.
AUTHOR: Depending on the type of book, can be professional writers, journalists, or scholars
TIMELINESS: Not as current as magazines or journals
CONTENT: Provides the most detailed information on a topic. Often gives useful background information.
