Board of Regents Chairman Joe Frank Harris issued the following statement today regarding Chancellor Thomas C. Meredith’s candidacy for the position of president of the University of Tennessee:

“Chancellor Meredith has served the University System of Georgia extremely well,” Chairman Harris stated. “We are pleased with the leadership he has provided during his tenure over the past two years. It is our desire for the chancellor to remain in Georgia and continue leading our system. We will do everything we can to convince him that Georgia is where he belongs and where he is highly valued.”
