Atlanta — December 2, 2015

University System of Georgia (USG) Chancellor Hank Huckaby today named Mr. Shawn McGee interim president of Bainbridge State College (BSC).

McGee currently serves as vice president of business and operations at Bainbridge State College.

“Shawn has shown a great capacity to lead,” said Huckaby. “We have no doubt that he will lead Bainbridge State with distinction and continue to serve its mission to educate the citizens of Bainbridge and southwest Georgia.”

“I am honored to accept this new role at Bainbridge State College,” said McGee. “I look forward to working with students, faculty and staff to assure BSC continues to meet the educational needs of southwest Georgia.”

McGee will assume his post on Dec. 16. He will replace Bainbridge State College President Dr. Richard Carvajal, who has been named interim president of Darton State College in Albany.

As the chief business officer, he has advised the president on all fiscal matters regarding the college and directs the development, review, revision and implementation of policies and procedures related to business operations.

Prior to his role at Bainbridge State, McGee was comptroller at Georgia Southwestern State University. He has also held several roles at the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts Education Audit Division. His last role was as senior auditor and technology specialist.

McGee holds an associate degree from Darton College (Darton State College) and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Valdosta State University. He also became a certified public accountant (CPA) in 2002.

He and his family reside in Baker County, Georgia.
