The Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurial Strategies will ensure that innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities are accessible to all students and faculty, using these opportunities to promote prosperity within the state and local communities. The unit aims to lead the strategic advancement of innovation and startup development, evaluate and address relevant policy issues, and spearhead impactful initiatives across the USG. Additionally, the Office will collaborate with campus leaders, faculty, students, alumni, and external partners to foster a vibrant ecosystem that transforms ideas into meaningful outcomes.

 The goals include:

1. Promote collaboration across campuses to create shared programs, startups, incubators, and funding mechanisms that enhance the USG’s collective impact.
2. Unify and elevate innovation and entrepreneurial efforts across all member institutions.
3. Align a system-wide innovation strategy with state economic development goals, workforce needs, and technology transfer initiatives.
4. Organize the USG Innovation and Entrepreneurial Strategies Competition.
5. Support faculty and student innovation through mentorship, funding, and commercialization pathways.
6. Provide advice and consultation to the Chancellor, the Board of Regents, and USG presidents.
