A Research Study is Begun

1971

"who made the decision to divorce?" "Have you experienced changes in your income or economic status since the divorce?" "Describe the conflicts in your marriage. How did they change over time?" "How did you tell your children that you were divorcing?"

Judith S. Wallerstein, a lecturer in the School of Social Welfare at the University of California, Berkeley, begins an empirical study gathering data on 60 middle-class families going through divorce. The research is funded through the Zellerbach Family Fund at the Marin County (California) Community Mental Health Center.
