Student Services:
Student Services includes such departments as: Admissions, Student Records, Financial Aid, Student Housing, On-Campus Health Services, Overseeing Campus Security, Academic, Career Services for job placement after college. The Office of Student Affairs ensures that all campuses comply with Federal, State, and Local laws and Board of Regents Policies when conducting business.
Student Life:
Student Life activities are "student centered" including areas such as: Orientation for new students, Intercollegiate Athletics, Student Government, Student Judicial Systems, and Campus Diversity programs. The Office of Student Affairs promotes a campus environment geared toward the development of student success outside of the classroom.
Constituent Services:
With over 250,000 students and one thousand degree programs across 35 campuses. The Office of Student Affairs is ready to answer questions to help students find the programs or support services they need to be successful.
Technology Achievement & Innovation:
The Office of Student Affairs has taken the lead in identifying ways to integrate technology in student service administration. Most recently the office has sponsored the adoption of a system-wide degree audit program designed to make it easy for students to transfer from one USG institution to another. To compliment this transfer process, the System recently implemented the use of electronic transcripts between institutions. This is particularly popular with students who find it convenient to take courses on-line from more than one institution during the academic year. The office is an advocate for the use of electronic tools like course management (WEBCT), web portals (Luminius), PDAs and the use of iPods to support student learning in and outside the classroom.
In addition, the Office of Student Affairs is in partnership with Georgia Student Finance Commission and other educational agencies across the state in developing GAcollege411 (http://gacollege411.org/). This one stop website is for students to find information on how to plan, apply, and pay for college.
