The Database Categories
Click on this to get...What?
In GALILEO you'll notice a row of tabbed or linked subject categories near the top of the screen (reproduced below). This list is always accessible by clicking on "Home" found in the GALILEO menu at the top of the screen.

What are these tabs and links?
The tabs are primarily hierarchical subject menus. When you click on a subject category, you will get a list of subcategories with databases, relevant to the category and subcategory. You may also place your computer mouse over a subject category to get a drop down menu of subcategories. When you click on a subcategory, you get a list of databases relevant to the subcategory.
Besides the subject categories and subcategory databases, you will also notice other tabs that may need more explanation:
News/Facts Reference, with its subcategories and databases, does not fit neatly into the other subject areas. Under "News/Fact Reference", you will find information that you might find in the reference area of a library (i.e. biographical information, book reviews, dictionaries, encyclopedias, directories and almanacs). Your should also be aware that this category includes a subcategory "General and Multi Subject" where you will find databases that cover a wide range of subjects, with some full text articles. This category also includes the GOLD list of periodicals that helps you determine what library owns specific periodical titles.
Databases A-Z takes you to a complete alphabetical list of all databases in GALILEO.
The K-12 link takes you to a list of subcategories with a list of databases that should be useful to students and teachers, kindergarten through high school.
When you click on ¿habla español? you link to a list of GALILEO databases in Spanish.
