Title Searching
How to find something when you know the title
When you know the name of the item you are looking for you can search for it directly.
Title
If you know the exact title, use the Title search from the Exact Search page.
Some rules about Title searching:
- Always leave off an initial article such as "A", "An", "The", and their foreign language equivalents.
- Include articles within the title. For example, to search for the book The Sound and the Fury enter your search as sound and the fury.
- The system returns records that start with the words you type in you don't need to enter the whole title, but you do need to enter the first few words exactly as they appear on the item.
If you know a few words of the title, but aren't sure of the exact title, use the Keyword search. When you select to search in Title in the Keyword search the system looks for records with your search words anywhere in the title. For example, in the Keyword search you could enter sound fury as a keyword (title) search and find the correct title.
