We are in the process of implementing a system-wide wellness initiative. Our goal is to raise awareness of unhealthy lifestyles and increase opportunities for our employees to participate in a program that will assist them in leading a happier and healthier lifestyle.

Over the next coming weeks and months we will be communicating with you about tools, resources, and programs available to help you manage your wellness. Get on board to take part in one of the many events we have planned.

MINI-GRANT OPPORTUNITY FOR TOBACCO CESSATION

As part of the USG HR wellness initiative, the USO HR office is now accepting Mini-Grant proposals in the amount of $5,000 for USG institutions to use to promote tobacco cessation for faculty and staff in support of the new USG Tobacco & Smoke-Free campus policy which goes into effect on October 1, 2014.

The funds can be used for classes, prizes, incentives, communications, or even for supplies for activities focused on tobacco cessation! The proposal should only include activities which benefit and support tobacco cessation for faculty and staff.

Do not hesitate to reach out to local resources such as the American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, BCBSGA, Kaiser and your local health department to take advantage of the resources they already offer. These can also be included in your proposal. Be as innovative as possible!

Please submit your proposal in the form of a one to two page white paper to include:

  • Activities
  • Scope with anticipated outcomes;
  • Estimated number of participants;
  • Cost breakdown of activities and;
  • Length of the project with dates.
