USG News for Veterans

In a move to extend the Military Personnel out-of-state tuition waiver to those military personnel and their families impacted by frequent changes in duty stations, the Board of Regents approved a change to the Out-of-State Tuition Waiver policy. The revision, approved in the February 10th meeting of the Board of Regents and to become effective Summer 2009, now extends the waiver to military personnel, their spouses, and their dependent children even if:

  • the military sponsor is reassigned out-of-state and the spouse and dependent children remain in Georgia and the military sponsor remains on active military duty; or
  • active military personnel and their spouse and dependent children who are stationed in a state contiguous to the Georgia and who live in Georgia.
