| FY 2000 Annual Report of the University System of Georgia | < Previous | Next > |
The outstanding performance of Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia - two of the University System of Georgia's four research universities - earned both institutions a berth on U.S. News & World Report's annual listing of the top 50 public universities in the nation. Georgia Tech, already a perennial top finisher in the prestigious higher-education listing, placed 8th among the nation's public universities in the 2000 edition of the annual publication. The University of Georgia moved ahead two places over its 1999 ranking to tie down the 20th spot on this year's list - joining its sister USG institution among the nation's top tier of public universities. National achievement within the University System of Georgia is definitely on the rise. It has increased significantly since we first began compiling this list four years ago, a reflection of the increasing prominence and recognition of the System's students, faculty, staff, administrators and our institutions.
