Meeting Minutes: Regents Advisory Committee on Records and Admissions (RACRA)

The October 23, 2003 RACRA meeting got underway at 10: 15 a.m. Mr. Donald Avery, Chairperson, started the meeting by welcoming those in attendance. The following agenda items were addressed:

  • SIRS Update Bonnie Stevens updated everyone on SIRS Committee Meeting minutes
  • SIRS Walter Peacock spoke briefly on the Georgia Best Model dealing with database accountability.
  • Tonya Lam addressed the following issues:

    SSNs and Ids:
    Update on the status of the system mandate to move away from using social security numbers to protect student privacy (H. B. 475). 2005 is the targeted date for USG institutions to stop using ssn. Tonya emphasized that each campus is allowed to develop a unique student ID.

    Mini Core
    There is an agreement with DTAE that spells out the conditions whereby English and math courses are accepted. The Policy Manual and Academic Affairs Handbook provide guidelines relating to the accepting of credit from DTAE schools. Individual agreements do not apply across the board. The agreement only applies to C.O.C. DTAE courses.

    Luminis
    Luminis is the new name for pipeline. It does not use a platform supported by the USG.

    Residency Guide
    The Residency Guide is now on-line. A FAQ will be added later.

    CAPP
    Fall 2004 is the target date to have CAPP fully operational at all USG institutions.

    SEVIS
    The Office of International Education sponsored two workshops on SEVIS. They covered issuance of F and J visas. SCT has completed Phase 1 of providing new forms in BANNER for capturing SEVIS data.

    GED
    There is a format change for inputting GED scores. GED scores now required four digits.

    Georgia Easy
    Institutions need to update Georgia Easy application. This can be done by going out to the term maintenance form to update information for Georgia Easy.
