USG Student Health Insurance Program (SHIP) Requirements
All
University System of Georgia institutions are required to participate in the
Student Health Insurance program. Students in the categories listed below are
required to have insurance that meets the minimum standards. Students who are
not covered by a policy held by a parent, spouse, company or organization on
the approved waiver list (Organizations
and Agencies Approved Waivers) or if the policy does not meet the minimum
standards must purchase the USG SHIP policy.
Institutions at their choice may require all registered students (graduate and undergraduate) to have health insurance
The following student groups are required to have proof of health insurance:
- All graduate students receiving a Full Tuition Waiver as part of their graduate assistantship award.
- All undergraduate, graduate and ESL international students holding F or J visas.
- All undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in programs that require proof of health insurance.
- All graduate students receiving fellowships that fully fund their tuition.
- International Scholars.
- All Medical College of Georgia (MCG) students will be under the Mandatory Graduate Student Health Insurance Plan.
