Renew excellence in undergraduate education to meet students’ 21st century educational needs.

Challenge

The USG will prepare students to function successfully in a global society.

Action

Initiate a more intentional approach to international education in USG institutions, integrating international education throughout the curriculum at all levels and across disciplines.

Increase students’ and faculty members’ knowledge of other countries and cultures, increase their skills in functioning successfully in other countries and cultures, and broaden their attitudes about other countries and cultures.

Activities for Implementation

  1. Establish a set of BOR principles that will provide guidelines for institutions engaging in international education.
  2. Increase the number of students who study abroad to equal 25% of undergraduate degrees awarded.
  3. Increase the number of non- U.S. citizens enrolled in USG institutions to equal 10% of total enrollment.
  4. Increase the number of students earning undergraduate degrees in foreign languages by 50%.
  5. Increase the number of students earning degrees in international studies and related fields by 10%.
  6. Increase the number and percentage of faculty and staff who have international expertise and experience by 10%.
  7. Engage USG in faculty/curriculum development projects, such as AASCU’s Seven Revolutions (7R) initiative.
