Strategic Goal Four:
Strengthen the USG’s partnerships with the state’s other education agencies.

Challenge

National and international competitiveness demands a dramatic increase in STEM degree recipients. USG needs to increase the number of baccalaureate degrees in STEM disciplines to contribute to international competitiveness of the nation.

Action

Increase the number of students entering and completing STEM degree programs, action: STEM Initiative: Science and mathematics production targets for baccalaureate degrees.

Activities for Implementation

Implement research-based activities designed to influence K-12 student preparation for and interest in majoring in STEM in college; to increase the success of STEM majors in college.
