Bylaws Endorsement Request

USG Staff Council Representatives:

Now that we have finalized the Bylaws, it is time to move forward with our request to be recognized by the Board of Regents as an advisory body. This recognition will formalize an advisory role for the USGSC to the administrative leadership of the University System of Georgia.

We now need every campus Staff Council to be involved in this process. Before we can seek recognition from the BOR, we must have an endorsement of the USG Staff Council Bylaws from every institution’s president. Please present these Bylaws to your president and secure his/her endorsement as soon as possible. I have attached a sample memo that you might want to use as a cover letter for the bylaws, which explains our organization and the recognition that we are seeking. Be sure to update the memo with your own institution-specific information–this is just a sample. When you have received your president’s endorsement, please inform me, so that I can keep track of our progress.

Please be aware that this issue will likely be raised at a system-wide meeting of the presidents. So if you have not done your due diligence, your president may be out of the loop! It’s up to you to inform your president of what we are doing, why we are requesting this recognition, and how he/she can help us. For those institutions that do not have a formal Staff Council or Staff Senate, we will seek this endorsement through other channels, most likely through a contact in the HR department.
