STUDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS TO HOLD FALL CONFERENCE AT FLOYD COLLEGE NOVEMBER 5-7.

November 4, 1999 (Rome, GA) The Student Advisory Council to the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia (SAC) will hold it's Fall Conference this weekend, November 5-7, on the campus of Floyd College in Rome. Delegates from Georgia's 34 public colleges and universities will begin arriving in Rome on Friday afternoon and meeting at Floyd College through Sunday afternoon.

SAC is the official representative body of the more than 200,000 students in the University System of Georgia and makes recommendations on behalf of the students to the Board of Regents and the State Legislature. SAC consists of the student body president or appointed delegate from each of the 34 colleges and universities as well as up to five representatives from each institution. Conferences are held three times yearly to consider statewide issues concerning college students.

Issues expected to be raised at the Fall Conference include possible changes to the HOPE scholarship program, common course numbering, deferred payment of tuition, computerization of the Regent's Test, and the elimination of sales tax on textbooks as well as others.
