Learning Support Reports

What is Learning Support?

Learning Support (LS) programs serve students who need preparation in mathematics, and/or English. Students who do not meet standards for regular admission or who do not submit SAT or ACT scores sufficient for exemption are required to take the appropriate part(s) of an approved placement assessment to help determine whether they are required to participate in Learning Support. Institutions may set higher LS placement standards than required by the System. No college-level-degree credit may be earned through participation in Learning Support, but institutional credit is awarded.

Learning Support programs may serve three groups of students:

  1. Students required to participate in Learning Support because they do not meet System minimum admission requirements (430 SAT-Verbal and 400 SAT-Math and Required High School Curriculum) and do not exempt LS through achieving minimum levels of the Math and/or English Placement Indices;
  2. Students who are above the System minimum requirements but are required by the institution to participate in Learning Support;
  3. Students who volunteer to participate in Learning Support to prepare for regular college courses.
