In accord with Policy 912 of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. Bainbridge College has established the following policies and procedures to govern the naming of campus facilities and streets. These policies and procedures shall also govern rescission of previously named facilities and streets when such action is warranted. The President and Cabinet officers shall review these policies and procedures on an annual basis.
The President of Bainbridge College has established a standing administrative committee charged with administering the campus naming policies and procedures. The membership of the committee consists of the President, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Vice President for Business Affairs, the Vice President for Student Affairs, the respective chairs of the Faculty and Staff Councils, and the Co-chairpersons of the Bainbridge College Foundation.
As used above, the phrase "Facilities and Streets" shall mean streets, facilities, and outdoor areas of the campus landscape such as quadrangle, gardens, lakes, and recreational fields. Actions taken by the campus naming committee regarding facilities and streets are subject to approval by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. Other naming opportunities (interior spaces such as classrooms, hallways, labs, and other rooms) require the approval of the campus naming committee and the President of Bainbridge College. Campus signage practices and standards shall comply with Board of Regents Policies 908.3 and 917 and shall be consistent with the Bainbridge College Master Plan.
Facilities, streets, and interior spaces may be named for persons, living or deceased, who have provided outstanding service to Bainbridge College, the state of Georgia, and/or the nation. When such naming is to honor a living person for outstanding and distinguished service as a public servant, that individual must have been disassociated from employment by or service to the University System of Georgia or from state or Federal government employment for at least two years prior to the naming. This two year requirement may be waived for deceased persons. The Campus Naming Committee shall determine what constitutes "outstanding service" and shall be responsible for determining that the person to be honored is worthy of that honor. In all cases, the Board of Regents and the Chancellor of the University System of Georgia shall be appropriately notified of any recognition ceremonies.
Facilities, streets, and interior spaces may also be named for individuals, corporations, foundations, or organizations making monetary contributions to Bainbridge College. The Campus Naming Committee has established the following requirements:
| Naming an existing facility | $500,000 |
| Naming a facility prior to construction | $1,000,000 |
| Naming a campus street | $150,000 |
| Naming an interior space | S100,000 |
The Campus Naming Committee will consider the honoree's cumulative financial contributions and may choose to honor an individual for a combination of monetary donations and outstanding service to Bainbridge College. Deferred gifts are irrevocable.
The Campus Naming Committee may decide to rescind its naming action when an individual fails to meet a pledged financial commitment or does not maintain the high standards of Bainbridge College and the University System of Georgia. Those naming actions originally requiring approval by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia shall be referred to the Board by the President of Bainbridge College.
