A Strong Start for Georgia's Teachers
With funding from the Wachovia Foundation, the P-16 Department, University System of Georgia, National Commission on Teaching and America's Future, Georgia State University, Georgia Systemic Teacher Education Project, Atlanta Public Schools, DeKalb County Schools, Fulton County Schools, and Gwinnett County Schools are developing and piloting a systemic program designed to help new teachers during their transition from pre-service learning through the early years of teaching. The model is based on the integrative Georgia Framework for Teaching and supports the creation of strong cross-career professional learning communities within and across schools to attract and retain new teachers to high need schools and encourage their professional growth across the career continuum.

This is a collaborative project between the National Commission on Teaching and America's Future, Georgia State University, Georgia Systemic Teacher Education Project four partner urban school districts, and the P-16 Department of the University System of Georgia.
