OIIT is organized into three divisions—Operations, Services, and Information Security—that work together to sustain a secure, robust technical infrastructure, online instructional services, teaching and learning resources, and the enterprise-wide administrative systems required to support the USG’s academic environment.
Operations are sometimes defined as the “hard” side of technology with its major role to execute and deliver products to customers. Services are sometimes defined as the “soft” side of technology with its major roles to negotiate and manage expectations, priorities, and customer relations. Information Security ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the USG’s information, information systems, and applications, and ensures the protection of that information. Operations, Services, and Information Security work cooperatively to deliver and support technology products and services that align with USG customer needs and expectations.
