About

Applications Support’s top priority is providing high-quality support for the following services in production throughout the USG, whether the services are hosted by OIIT or an outside vendor or managed by USG institutions individually. By working cooperative with other OIIT teams, Applications Support also provides pre-release testing, certification, and quality assurance of these services and assists campuses in acquiring and providing training for the applications that underlie these services.

  • GeorgiaBEST (Georgia Banner Enhanced Student Team) uses baseline modules and System-wide enhancements to Banner, the student and financial aid information system that handles data about admissions, registration, fee payment, transfers, financial aid and HOPE, accounts receivable, transcripts, housing, and other functions. The project supports the use of standard administrative practices in student and financial aid services and a standardized approach to using Banner to improve USG student services and provide consistent data for informed decision-making.   • GeorgiaFIRST (Georgia Financial, Information and Reporting Systems for Tomorrow) uses the PeopleSoft Financial Management System software for accounting, purchasing, payments to vendors, and capital asset management. The project supports a single model system for use by 31 institutions, Skidaway Institute of Oceanography, and the USO. For more information, see the GeorgiaFIRST web site.

  • GeorgiaFIRST uses the PeopleSoft Human Resource Management solution to handle and track employee data such as faculty and staff information, payroll, and benefits.   • The Georgia ONmyLINE registration system is the gateway to distance education offerings from all of the colleges and universities in the USG.

  • GeorgiaVIEW (Vista Implementation Enterprise-Wide) develops and maintains a robust state-of-the-art learning management system using the Blackboard Learning System-Vista (BbLS-V) Enterprise License. Instructors and students use a comprehensive set of tools for designing and managing both web-based and face-to-face courses. For more information, see the GeorgiaVIEW web site.

  • The Student System Consolidation project consolidates the Banner technical environment into one secure, reliable, central location to host selected USG institutions. The project centralizes database administration and system support functions so that institutions can redirect campus resources toward other efforts.   • Information and Web Services (IWS) serves internal and external clients in development, management and support for USG and USG-related web environments; develops guidelines and procedures for web coding and user interface development; and provides information, design consultation, and hands-on support for web-related projects.
