Regents' On-Line Language Scholarships

Regents' On-Line Language scholarships are available to students enrolled in University System of Georgia (USG) institutions who successfully complete on-line language courses offered through the Regents' On-Line Language initiative. Scholarships are available for study in China, Japan, Russia and Taiwan.

There are two types of Regents' On-Line Language scholarships:

  • Board of Regents Bridge Scholarships for up to $1,000: Applicants must be USG students currently enrolled in the 1002-level course of the on-line language program and must be registering for the 2001-level course of the on-line language program with the intention of completing the full second-year course sequence on-line. The scholarship must be used during the summer following completion of the 1002-level course of the on-line language program.
  • Board of Regents Immersion Scholarships for up to $2,500: Applicants must be USG students currently enrolled in the 2002-level course of the on-line language program. Students may have completed earlier courses (1001, 1002, 2001) in traditional classroom formats, but priority will be given to those who have taken most or all of their language instruction on-line. The scholarship must be used within one year following completion of the 2002-level course of the on-line language program. The scholarship may be used for summer, semester, or academic-year study abroad programs lasting a minimum of eight weeks and providing intermediate-to-advanced level intensive instruction in the target language.

Additional Requirements

All scholarships must be paid toward a study abroad program in China (including Hong Kong), Taiwan, Japan or Russia (depending on the on-line language program in which the applicant is enrolled). The study abroad program must be approved by a Regents' Selection Committee comprised of USG faculty and staff from the Board of Regents Office of International Education.

Application Process:

Applicants must complete an on-line application.
