J-1 Exchange Visitor Information - DS-2019 Procedures
The Exchange Visitor Program (EVP) has designated the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia as the program sponsor for Exchange Visitor Program No. P-1-05814. Under this program, the University System is allowed to issue a "Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor (J-1) Status" (DS-2019 form) to enable foreign visitors who meet the eligibility criteria to apply for a J-1 visa and subsequently enter the United States. -
DS-2019 Request Form - Exchange Visitor Program (PDF)
This request form is to be initiated by the institution and signed by the appropriate academic department(s) planning to invite the foreign faculty, scholar or student to participate in exchange with one or more of our USG institutions. Additional Immigration Information
The Department of State is responsible for issuing visas and administering the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program. The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs provides information for prospective students and scholars who wish to pursue academic endeavors in the United States. In addition to complying with Department of State regulations, exchange visitors are required to comply with the rules and regulations of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services. All international visitors entering the United States will be subject to US VISIT procedures at the port of entry (PDF 116k). -
