Other Grants and Awards: External Funding Opportunities for Faculty

  • Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation
    An annual programme of research grants and educational scholarships, addressed exclusively to foreigners, members of Academies, university professors (all levels), research scholars holding Ph.D. degrees, artists and translators of Greek literature, elementary and secondary school teachers of the Greek language as a foreign one, postgraduate students and Ph.D. candidates.

  • Alexander von Humbolt Foundation
    The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation provides funds for cooperative research between German, U.S. and/or Canadian scholars. The funds are supplied by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Transatlantic Cooperation in Research (TransCoop) supports transatlantic research cooperation among German, American and/or Canadian scholars (Ph.D. required) in the humanities, social sciences, economics, and law.

  • DAAD Scholarship Programs for Study and Research in Germany
    DAAD grants are available to faculty and students in Canada and the United States to participate in a wide variety of academic activites. In general, applicants need to be US or Canadian citizens or permanent residents. In certain cases foreign nationals enrolled or employed at universities in North America may also be eligible to apply.

  • Florence Tan Moeson Fellowship Program

    The purpose of the fellowship is to provide individuals with the opportunity to pursue research on East, Southeast, and/or South Asia (including the overseas Asian communities), using the unparalleled collections of the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. Graduate students, independent scholars, community college teachers, researchers without regular teaching appointments, and librarians are especially encouraged to apply. Applications are accepted on-line only and must be submitted between June 1st and September 30th every year.

  • The Georgia Consortium for International Studies
    Announces its second faculty internationalization award. The $500 award recognizes and rewards faculty members at GCIS institutions who have made significant contributions to internationalization.

  • International Faculty Development Seminars (Council on International Educational Exchange)

  • IREX Short-Term Travel Grants
    The Short-Term Travel Grants provide support to US scholars for visits of up to two months to conduct postdoctoral research, present papers at conferences, or consult with colleagues in countries of Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Iran and Turkey.

  • The Koscuiszko Foundation
    The Graduate/Postgraduate Studies & Research in Poland Program allows American graduate students and university faculty members to conduct research at universities in Poland with financial support from the Polish Ministry of National Education and the Kosciuszko Foundation. The grant includes a stipend for dormitory housing and living expenses. Transportation to and from Poland is NOT included.

  • NAFSA Collaborative Training Grant Program
    The Collaborative Training Grant (CTG) program provides grant awards up to $10,000 for the development and implementation of innovative international education training activities, services and/or products for international educators and students alike. Funded projects should foster a positive U.S. campus environment for international students.

  • Office of Citizen Exchanges
    The Office of Citizen Exchanges manages professional, youth, and cultural programs through grants with non-profit American institutions, including community organizations, professional associations, and universities. This partnership benefits thousands of Americans and foreign visitors taking part in exchanges at the grassroots level, both in the U.S. and abroad.

  • Rotary Grants for University Teachers
    Rotary Grants for University Teachers provide funds to higher education faculty to travel abroad to teach at colleges and universities in developing countries. The program is intended to build international understanding and foster development while strengthening higher education in low-income countries. The program also aims to establish ties between higher education institutions, leading to the exchange of ideas and information across the globe. The subjects taught by grant recipients must be relevant to the needs of the local population and contribute to the area's socio-economic development.

  • Social Science Research Council
    SSRC fellowship and grant programs provide support and professional recognition to innovators within fields, and especially to younger researchers whose work and ideas will have longer-term impact on society and scholarship. SSRC's Abe Fellowship Program is designed to encourage international multidisciplinary research on topics of pressing global concern. The program seeks to foster the development of a new generation of researchers who are interested in policy-relevant topics of long-range importance and who are willing to become key members of a bilateral and global research network built around such topics.

  • Studienforum Berlin
    Studienforum Berlin (SFB) is an independent, non-governmental, non-political, non-profit organization. It promotes better understanding of the people, society, culture, and institutions of Germany and Europe. SFB offers faculty development seminars; in 2008, the seminar is titled Germany and Poland - A Troubled Partnership in a "Deepening" European Union. Deadline to apply is 1 April 2008.

    The International Education Programs Service provides funding for international education programs.
