Statement Regarding UGA Foundation Report On President Adams
Atlanta — October 29, 2003
University System of Georgia Chancellor Thomas C. Meredith today made available copies of the Deloitte & Touche report prepared at the request of University of Georgia Foundation officials, along with:
- A copy of President Adams’ response to Chancellor Meredith regarding the report;
- A copy of the UGA Management Response to the report; and
- A copy of the Board of Regents’ Statement/Response to the report.
“The regents and I have carefully studied the report and each response,” University System of Georgia Chancellor Thomas C. Meredith stated. “We have committed the necessary time to understand each issue in order to ascertain the facts. The statement reflects our position on this matter.”
“It’s important for anyone who has read the initial report from Deloitte & Touche to also read these detailed response documents,” Board of Regents Chairman Joe Frank Harris stated. “We have taken this matter extremely seriously and the issues that have been raised by the UGA Foundation officials have had extraordinary scrutiny. The regents have based their position on the facts of the matter.
“President Adams definitely has the full support of the Board of Regents,” Chairman Harris added. “It is imperative, at this juncture, for all of those who support this great university to now reunite their efforts to push UGA into an even more prominent position nationally. We now must move forward, bring closure to this issue, and allow President Adams to continue concentrating on leading the University and working with his management team to help further UGA’s contributions to our state and the nation.”
