Executive Search Firm Named For Albany State Presidential Search

Atlanta — April 8, 2005

University System of Georgia Chancellor Thomas C. Meredith announced today that Greenwood & Associates, of Miramar Beach, Fla., has been selected to assist in the search for the next president of Albany State University.

“Jan Greenwood has been involved in previously successful presidential searches for the University System, so we are pleased to have the opportunity to work, once again, with her firm,” stated Chancellor Meredith. “We look forward to the consultant’s contributions in helping us conduct a comprehensive national search to fill the Albany State presidency.”

Meredith also announced the appointment of an additional member to the Presidential Search and Advisory Committee. Dr. Donald Kagay, professor of history and president of the Albany State University Faculty Senate, has been named to the campus-based search committee.

Chancellor Meredith visited the Albany State campus last week to outline his vision for the institution, and to update faculty, staff and students on the presidential search process. While there, he also officially launched the search process, and charged the Presidential Search and Advisory Committee in their first meeting.

The search is expected to take six months, culminating in September.
