| WHAT: | A Special Meeting of the Board of Regents has been called
by Board of Regents Chair J. Timothy Shelnut and the board's Executive
Committee. After introductory remarks by the chair, the regents will convene in Executive Session to discuss personnel matters. |

| WHY: | The board members will begin their deliberations regarding the appointment
of an interim chancellor to fill the post being vacated by out-going current
USG Chancellor Thomas C. Meredith, who announced last Thursday he has accepted
a new post in Mississippi. The board also will address the launching of a national search to permanently fill the chancellor's post. |
