The System Council on International Education will serve as the primary advisory and consultative body for all international issues, programs, policies, and proposals that have systemwide significance, implications, or consequences. The Council's purpose is to support and strengthen international education throughout the University System of Georgia.
The Council has a broad charge to pursue its mission in ways that it finds effective and appropriate. Among the responsibilities of the Council in fulfilling that mission are the following:
- Coordinate information-sharing on international activities among all System campuses;
- Develop recommendations for policies and procedures that will improve and enhance international education;
- Participate in other System initiatives that may have international implications or that would benefit from international perspectives;
- Coordinate the development of proposals for systemwide international programs;
- Respond to and serve as a sounding board for international matters that may be presented to the Central Office or the Board.
Council members, appointed by their campus presidents, represent their institutions and are responsible for maintaining effective communication about the Council's efforts with all appropriate constituencies.
