Faculty Seminars
Every two years, the Africa Council leads a Faculty Development Seminar in Africa. These seminars are designed to give faculty from System institutions the chance to gain international experience with a group of their peers, while learning about the countries visited from specialists in a variety of fields. The next seminar will be held in summer 2006. The 2006 Faculty Development Seminar is part of a broad strategy to increase interest in Africa and develop a core of faculty within the system with the knowledge base to effectively integrate the study of Africa into the curriculum. Additionally, the Seminar will complement the recently established Certificate in African Studies and provide opportunities for faculty who may wish to teach in the program to have first hand experience about Africa.

SEMAU Conference
The 12th Annual Southeast Model African Union (SEMAU) Conference is being sponsored by the University System Africa Council. This event gives students an opportunity to learn diplomacy and governmental organization in Africa through a unique simulation experience. Please visit the SEMAU website for detailed information, registration forms and a conference handbook.

Asia Council

The Asia Council develops multi-institutional programs between University System of Georgia institutions and partners in Asia. In addition, via Asia-L, the Council's listserv, it serves as a communications network for speakers, seminars, funding opportunities and special programs relating to Asia.

For Students:
The Asia Council coordinates multi-institution summer study abroad programs in China and India. It supports study in Japan for students from All Georgia institutions through the Japanese language program at the University of Georgia. The Council's Teach English in China program enables recent graduates to teach English at schools in Jiangsu province, Georgia's educational partner in China.

For Faculty:
The Council organizes a summer faculty development seminar every other year. The seminars are targeted at faculty with little previous experience in the region. The Council also facilitates faculty exchanges with China and India.
