Bainbridge State College’s mission is three-fold: to provide transfer degrees, technical programs, and public service/continuing education courses. The College assists in area economic and community development programs and has established collaborative relationships with local businesses, industries, and cultural/civic groups. The College also supports local public education by sponsoring various academic and technical competitions and by offering on-going cultural programs, including lectures, musical programs, art exhibits, and theatrical performances for students and community.
As a non-residential campus, Bainbridge State College attracts students from 11 surrounding counties and several states and nations.
The student body includes more than 3,000 students, many of whom are working adults and first-generation college students. Almost half attend full time. Minority enrollment averages 50 percent, and women comprise about 70 percent of the student population. The average age of the student body is 27.
Students pursue 18 associate of arts degrees designed for transfer to four-year institutions, as well as the associate of science degree in nursing, and 11 associate of applied science degrees in technical education, 14 career certificates, and 31 specialized certificates.
The College offers continuing education courses; cooperative upper division degree programs in business administration, computer information systems, criminal justice, and early childhood education through Albany State University and Georgia Southwestern State University; and distance learning courses.
Students can attend classes at the main campus, at the Early County Site in Blakely, at off-campus sites, take courses online, and participate in Study Abroad and Honors programs.
Bainbridge State College had an economic impact of more than $71 million during FY 2010.
