Mission

The Board of Regents (BOR) of the University System of Georgia's Office of Information Security (OIS) has responsibility and oversight for the system-wide information and information system security and electronic privacy program and for the security and privacy policies and standards applicable to all USG Institutions and Public Libraries, as outlined in the Policy Manual of the Board of Regents, Section 700.

To be a nationally recognized leader in information security and privacy protection for the System's information assets.

Our Mission

To ensure the trust of Board of Regents, University System, Georgia Public Libraries by providing systemwide strategic direction and leadership in the protection of the System's information assets.

Our Key Goals

  • Establish direction through policy and procedures for information risk management, including both information security and operational recovery.
  • Promote and improve prevention and risk reduction through education, awareness, collaboration, and consultation.
  • Ensure that incident handling, reporting, response, and follow-up occur in an effective and coordinated manner.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute a risk management monitoring and compliance process.
  • Promote a safe, secure and enabling environment for teaching, instruction and research, through policies, technology and awareness.
  • To remain an enabling resource in meeting the goals of the BOR USG and the State of Georgia
