Partnerships: Armstrong Atlantic Partnering for Latino Student Success

Lumina Foundation for Education awarded $600,000 to Armstrong Atlantic State University as one of 12 lead institutions across the country, and the only one in Georgia, to lead a collaborative partnership focused on the success of Latino students. The goal of the collaboration that will impact seven counties in Southeast Georgia is to increase the percentage of Latino students enrolling in the area’s three public colleges/universities—Armstrong, Savannah State University and Savannah Technical College—from the current 3.2 percent to 6.4 percent by 2015. Other partners include the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, Migrant Education Agency of Georgia, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Coastal Empire, Junior Achievement of Savannah, Goodwill GoodGuides Mentors of Savannah, YMCA branches of Coastal Georgia and Wells Fargo.
