Dalton State College - a four-year institution - is dedicated to providing broad access to quality higher education for the population of Northwest Georgia, thereby enhancing the region’s economic vitality and quality of life. As an institution of the University System of Georgia, Dalton State College offers targeted bachelor’s degrees, a full range of associate’s degrees and career certificate programs, and a wide variety of public service activities. The College’s work is strengthened by partnerships between the College and Northwest Georgia businesses and industries, governments, and schools.
Dalton State College offers a number of high-demand bachelor’s degrees in addition to associate and technical degree programs.
More than 5,700 traditional and non-traditional students at Dalton State come from a 12-county service area. While most students commute to class, many are choosing to live in the college’s new residential facility, Wood Valley at Dalton State. The average student age is 24, and females comprise 62 percent of the student population.
Dalton State College students may choose from fourteen bachelor’s degree programs offered through the Schools of Business, Education, Social Work, and Science and Mathematics. The College also offers 68 associate’s degrees, and 42 career/certificate programs.
Dalton State College also offers a wide range of non-credit courses and an adult literacy program to meet the needs of the residents of the surrounding northwest Georgia region.
With 85 percent working full or part-time, students may schedule classes during the day, evening and on weekends to accommodate their work schedules.
Dalton State had an economic impact of more than $114.8 million during FY 2010.
