Author Searching

How to find books by a specific author

Access the author search from the Exact Search screen, or the Keyword search screen.

When you access the Author search from the Exact Search screen, the system searches through standardized 'headings.' These headings are standardized ways of identifying a person. This is important so that if you type in a search for Twain, Mark, you will also get books by Samuel Clemens. Additionally, if more than one author has the same name, the headings will distinguish them by including the date of birth.

Tips for the Author Search:

When you access the Author search from the Keyword search screen, the system bypasses the standardized headings. Use the Keyword search to look for multiple authors, or to combine an Author search with a Keyword or Title search. You can even search by the author's first name.
