Troubleshooting Common Problems

The following chart represents common problems reported to GALILEO Support Services that can be resolved by changing browser or other plug-in settings.

Please see the GALILEO Computer Configuration Instructions for more information on compatible browsers and other computer settings.

GALILEO Homepage The institution name that appears in the right-hand corner of the GALILEO homepage is not my institution. Click on "GO" next to the password box, but do not put in a password. EBSCO From EBSCOhost databases, I am unable to save text or html files to my desktop or a disk.

Follow the directions below when saving your document as a text or html file:

  • right click on the save to disk icon
  • select open in a new window
  • click the save icon (in new window)
  • follow directions on top of page.

Note, .html files must be saved as a Web Page, HTML Only, (*.htm; *.html) ,NOT AS Web Page, complete (*.htm; *.html).

ProQuest or Chadwyck-Healey When I access ProQuest databases (including Dissertation Abstracts), I am prompted for a user name and password. Use ProQuest’s CookieCutter to delete ProQuest Cookies. Then set Cookie Preferences for MSIE 6.x. Use ProQuest's CookieCutter to delete ProQuest Cookies. Then set Cookie Preferences for MSIE 5.x. Use ProQuest's CookieCutter to delete ProQuest Cookies. Then set Cookie Preferences for Netscape 7.x.
