Frequently Asked Questions

Question

From the GALILEO Search feature, can I limit my results to articles from peer-reviewed scholarly publications?

Answer

An option to limit your results to articles from peer-reviewed or scholarly publications is available from the GALILEO Search form; however, when using this limiter, be aware that not all results in the list will be from scholarly or peer-reviewed publications. This is because the set of databases or online resources that you are searching against may include resources that are not able to limit their results to peer-reviewed or scholarly publications. If your search set includes these resources, you will retrieve results from non-peer-reviewed / scholarly publications.

One way to insure that you are limiting to only peer-reviewed or scholarly publications is to perform your search in the native interface of the database. This means you would need to select the link to a particular database outside of the Search page and re-run your search on the native interface of the database. At this point, you will be able to see the many different limiting options that the database provides, including limiting to peer-reviewed scholarly publications.
