GALILEO Statistics Project:  Status Report 5/5/04

 

 

Newly-completed tasks:

  1. Add GALILEO FY96-FY03 usage bar graph to main statistics page in About GALILEO.
  2. Add Encyclopedia Britannica usage statistics to current GALILEO report generator. (4/02 through 3/04 currently available.)
  3. Work with OCLC to create reports for past monthly usage of per-search and subscription databases.

 

 

In-progress tasks:

  1. Evaluate monthly reporting capabilities for additional vendors:
    1. FirstSearch: received reports, now evaluating for addition to report generator.
    2. SIRS: now receiving monthly reports by e-mail; evaluating for addition to report generator.
    3. Bowker: working with vendor to restructure accounts to create usable monthly reports.
  2. Organize FY03 USG institution usage reports, FY03 public libraries reports, and other reports for addition to Documents page.

  1. Develop prototype of new public GALILEO statistics reports generator.
  2. Review what other national consortia are doing for collection and presentation of usage statistics and determine if their efforts can be leveraged or adopted.
  3. Develop plan and steps for archival collection/storage for each product.

  10. Focus group meeting held to gather specifications for NGE usage statistics.
  11. Meeting held with NGE technical staff to discuss implementation of statistics focus group recommendations.
  12. Focus group meeting held to gather specifications for DLG databases.
  13. Add MLA, Agricola, EconLit, CINAHL, AHI, CMMI to EBSCO monthly data (retrospective and current).
  14. Develop and test statistics program for LexisNexis, load 1/02-1/04 monthly reports.
  15. Develop tracking mechanism for progress with database vendors. See table below.
