1. The GALILEO programmers
have developed a program that takes the data in EBSCO's .CSV statistics reports
and incorporates the EBSCO-provided figures into the specific statistic types
recommended by VPAC.
2. Testing with a May 2003
report was successful; the programmers then ran the same program for monthly
EBSCO reports retrieved for July 2002 through April 2003.
3. The programmers have
created an FTP account for future monthly reports.
The account has tested
successfully; the automatic incorporation of the FTP-ed reports will be tested
with the July 1 monthly EBSCO report.
4. The incorporation of the
EBSCO data into the GALILEO-recorded data can be viewed at
http://dbs.galib.uga.edu/stats/html/xstats.html.
5. Staff are working on the
ProQuest reports next, but have questions about how to correlate the statistics
with the correct institution codes.
Also, the duplication of searches and other stats on ProQuest's reports
makes the "raw" reports difficult to use. Preliminary examination suggests that ProQuest accounts need
to be reconfigured to better support automated statistics gathering.
