Initial Notification of HRMS Release 7.51

This is the text of the original e-mail posted 3/16/01 to the FIRST-LP listserve.

The GeorgiaFIRST HRMS Project release of PeopleSoft HRMS 7.51 is rapidly approaching. Most of you are aware that this is a major point upgrade and that the project team has been working for a number of months to prepare for the upgrade. System test has been completed and details and scheduling of the test release and tentative production release dates are now available.

Prior to the upgrade of production databases, a test upgrade of each institution's database will be performed. While the production application is a single-source model, there are variables in the table setup and local environment. This test upgrade is to insure the successful delivery of the subsequent production upgrade. The test upgrade will be applied to a copy of the production database and will not impact normal production. An added benefit to the test upgrade is in providing the institution an opportunity to examine and test the new version. Estimated time of the test upgrade is four days and the institutional test window will be approximately one week. The schedule for the test upgrade and test window is attached.

During this institutional test window a number of critical aspects of the application will need to be examined. These will include connectivity to the database, availability of the application, functionality of the application, and compatibility of local development. The workstation component will not be tested during this period. Connection will be via the project provided Terminal Server/Citrix client. Details of the recommended institutional test phase will be sent to each institution under separate cover. A member of the project team will contact each institution to discuss the procedure.

After successfully completing all test upgrades, the delivery of the production upgrades will commence. At the scheduled time, the institution's production database will be taken off-line for upgrade. The database will be unavailable during this period. A copy of the database will be saved off and the update script begun. This update will include over 500 PeopleSoft delivered fixes as well as GeorgiaFIRST Project modifications to the baseline product. As with the test upgrade, estimated time for completion of the production upgrade for each institution is four days. The schedule for the production upgrade immediately follows the test upgrade schedule in the attachment.
