Garnishment - Disposable Earnings Definitions

Maintenance Responsibility for Garnishment Disposable Earnings Definitions may either be PeopleSoft or Customer, as specified on the Garnishment DE Definition Table. (Define Payroll Process - Setup - Garnishment DE Defn (U.S.)) It is important to remember that "PeopleSoft-maintained definitions are complete as delivered except for any deductions to be specifically allowed or disallowed in determining the disposable earnings subject to garnishment."

It is advisable to review PeopleSoft-maintained Garnishment DE Definitions to ensure that all appropriate deductions have been set up. Retirement deductions on PeopleSoft-maintained Garnishment DE Definition panels may be overwritten in a PeopleSoft release.

Inserting a row with a more current effective date than the PeopleSoft-maintained entry in the Garnishment DE Definition table may, in some cases, help preserve specific deductions that have been set up.
